Jamshedpur Kicks Off Online Enrollment for RTE Underprivileged Seats in Private Schools
Jamshedpur Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal has announced the commencement of online applications for enrollment under the Right to Free and Compulsory Child Education (RTE) Act, 2009, in private schools across the district. Starting from February 5, parents of children from weaker sections and disadvantaged groups can apply for admission to 25% reserved seats in the non-aid recognized private schools in the district.
Application Process & Deadline
Parents seeking to enroll their children under the RTE can submit their online applications through the designated portal by February 20. The enrollment process is aimed at ensuring education access for all children from marginalized backgrounds. This initiative reflects the district’s ongoing commitment to educational inclusivity.
Impressive Enrollment Success in Previous Year
In the previous year, the enrollment process achieved remarkable success. Under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner, the district conducted a lottery system for the selection of eligible students. A total of 1384 children were selected out of 1504 seats, which marked the highest number of enrollments in reserved seats so far. The selection was carried out in four stages with active participation from district officials, school principals, and Parents Association representatives.
Document Requirements for Enrollment
To qualify for the RTE seats, certain documents are required to prove the eligibility of children from specific groups. These include:
- SC/ST Certificates: Government-issued documents showing caste and tribe details of the child’s parents.
- Disability Certificates: Documents issued by the Medical Board, Sadar Hospital, or Primary Health Centers for children with disabilities.
- Income Certificate: Proof of family income issued by the relevant authority.
Target for 100% Enrollment
The district’s District Education Superintendent has expressed a strong determination to ensure the complete enrollment of children in the reserved seats this year, with efforts to meet the target of 100% seat nominations. The success of last year’s enrollment process, combined with improved outreach, is expected to lead to even more children being enrolled in schools this year.
As this initiative unfolds, Jamshedpur’s education department aims to break barriers and create equal opportunities for children from weaker and marginalized sections of society, making education more accessible than ever before.
