Former Prime Minister and JDS President HD Deve Gowda claimed in the Rajya Sabha that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu wanted to become vice -president of NDA after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned down his proposal. Deve Gowda made this claim during his response to the President’s proposal on the President’s address.

Deve Gowda said, “In 2024, when Modi ji got 240 seats, Chandrababu Naidu and his MP wanted to become the vice -president or president of the committee formed by all the NDA parties. But Modi ji said that nothing like this will happen. They have the experience of running administration, they can run the country without any upheaval and they are the only biggest leaders in the country who can lead it. ”

Following this statement by Deve Gowda, Rajya Sabha President Jagdeep Dhankhar gave BJP President and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha JP Nadda to give a brief statement on the issue. Nadda dismissed Deve Gowda’s claim, saying, “Manyavar Deve Gowda, who is a partner of NDA and also a former Prime Minister, has raised an issue about the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I want to clarify the matter as the party president. There was no such discussion in the NDA and all have decided to put their strength behind the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. ” Significantly, JD (S) is part of the NDA, with two MPs in the Lok Sabha. Deve Gowda’s son HD Kumaraswamy is the Union Heavy Industry and Steel Minister.
