Kid Kash Announces In-Ring Return After Multiple Retirements

Professional wrestling has a long history of legendary stars stepping back into the ring after retirement. The latest name to make a comeback is Kid Kash, a well-respected figure from the 1990s and 2000s wrestling scene.
Known for his time in Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) and WWE, Kash made a name for himself as a high-flying, hard-hitting competitor. Despite previously retiring from professional wrestling, he has now confirmed that he will once again lace up his boots for an in-ring return.
Let’s take a deep dive into Kid Kash’s career, his past retirements, and why he has decided to return to the squared circle once again.
Kid Kash’s Wrestling Journey
Breaking into the Business
Born David Cash, Kid Kash started his professional wrestling journey in the early 1990s. Inspired by high-flying legends such as Ricky Morton and Eddie Guerrero, Kash developed a fast-paced and aggressive style that set him apart from many of his peers.
His big break came when he joined Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) in the late 1990s. Under the guidance of Paul Heyman, Kash quickly became one of ECW’s most exciting performers, earning a reputation for his daredevil moves and hard-hitting matches.
Rise to Fame in ECW
During his time in ECW, Kid Kash gained popularity due to his ability to put on thrilling matches against stars like Rob Van Dam, Super Crazy, and Jerry Lynn.
He won the ECW World Television Championship, solidifying himself as one of the top competitors in the company. However, when ECW shut down in 2001, Kash had to look for new opportunities, which led him to various promotions, including WCW, TNA, and WWE.
WWE Runs and Cruiserweight Championship Win
Kid Kash had two separate runs in WWE.
- First WWE Stint (1997-1998): Kash briefly joined WWE in 1997 but didn’t get much television exposure.
- Second WWE Stint (2005-2006): He returned in 2005, this time as part of the revived Cruiserweight Division.
During this period, he defeated Juventud Guerrera to win the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, achieving one of the biggest highlights of his career. However, Kash’s WWE tenure was short-lived, as he was released in 2006 due to backstage conflicts and creative differences.
Success in TNA Wrestling
After leaving WWE, Kash made a name for himself in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), where he became a multi-time X-Division Champion. His time in TNA saw him compete against some of the best high-flyers in the world, including AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, and Samoa Joe.
Even though he never won a world championship, Kash’s impact on cruiserweight and X-Division wrestling was undeniable.
Why Did Kid Kash Retire?
After nearly two decades in the wrestling business, Kash announced his retirement in 2015 following a loss to Chase Owens. He cited age, injuries, and a desire to pursue other interests as reasons for stepping away from the ring.
However, like many wrestlers before him, retirement didn’t last long.
