How does Air View+ work? Google’s Air View+ tool collects data from multiple sources, including:
- Government Air Quality Monitoring System
- Sensors installed in more than 150 cities
- satellite images
- Weather patterns and traffic data
The data received from all these sources is processed by Google’s AI technology and is customized as per the standards of India’s National Air Quality Index (NAQI). This tool analyzes major pollutants like PM2.5, PM10, CO2, NO2, Ozone, Temperature and Humidity.

- First of all, open Google Maps app on your device.
- Activate the air quality layer on the map.
- Check the AQI of your current location or any other area using the weather widget.

This tool is especially beneficial for children, elderly and those who are sensitive to poor air quality. It warns them to wear masks, limit outdoor activities or take other precautions on days with high levels of pollution.
Air Quality Sensors and Partnerships
Google has partnered with companies like OraSure and Respir Living Sciences to improve this tool. Under this partnership, air quality sensors have been installed in areas where it was not possible to collect data earlier.
