Crystal Palace Secure £30m Deal for Arsenal Striker Eddie Nketiah as Summer Spending Spree Continues
Crystal Palace have made a significant splash in the summer transfer window by signing Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah for a fee of £30 million. The 25-year-old forward has committed to a five-year contract with the Eagles, marking a triumphant return to his South London roots.
Nketiah’s arrival is the latest in a string of summer acquisitions for Crystal Palace, who have been actively bolstering their squad ahead of the new Premier League season. The striker becomes the club’s fifth signing, following the last-minute addition of French defender Maxence Lacroix for £18 million on deadline day.
Expressing his excitement about the move, Nketiah said, “It’s amazing to sign for Crystal Palace – I’m excited to get going. Every time I come back to South London, it always puts a smile on my face, so it’s good to be back home.”
Steve Parish, Crystal Palace chairman, shared his enthusiasm about the club’s new signing, stating, “It’s brilliant to welcome Eddie, a senior England international, back to South London. We are delighted he has signed for Crystal Palace. I am confident that his energy, talent, and hunger to succeed will endear him to his new team-mates and supporters alike.”
Nketiah, who originally joined Arsenal from Chelsea’s youth academy at the age of 14, has made a significant impact during his time at the Emirates. Over his Arsenal career, he scored 38 goals in 168 appearances, showcasing his talent as a versatile and prolific striker.
In addition to Nketiah, Crystal Palace have also strengthened their squad with the signing of goalkeeper Matt Turner from Nottingham Forest. The 30-year-old USA international joins on a season-long loan, adding depth to the Eagles’ goalkeeping options.
Turner, who played 21 times for Nottingham Forest after moving from Arsenal last summer, expressed his eagerness to contribute to his new team. “I’m really excited to be here and I’m ready to get to work,” said Turner. “I’ve heard a lot about [goalkeeping coach] Dean Kiely from Wayne Hennessey, and obviously Dean [Henderson] and Remi [Matthews] have got a lot of experience, so it’ll be great to get to know them, learn how they work, support them in whatever ways I can, but also push them to be the best versions of themselves.”
As Crystal Palace continues to reinforce its squad, fans are eager to see how these new additions will impact the team’s performance in the upcoming season. With Nketiah’s return to his home turf and Turner’s experienced presence between the posts, the Eagles are poised to make a strong statement in the Premier League.
