Danni Wyatt-Hodge Makes History as England First to Reach 3000 T20I Runs in England Series Victory
Danni Wyatt-Hodge etched her name into England’s T20I history on Wednesday (November 27) by becoming the first-ever England women’s player to score 3000 runs in the shortest format of the game. Wyatt-Hodge reached the remarkable milestone during the second T20I against South Africa at Willowmoore Park in Benoni, where she played a key role in England’s commanding victory.
The right-handed batter smashed 78 runs off just 45 balls, setting a blistering pace for England and laying the groundwork for their series-clinching win. Wyatt-Hodge’s whirlwind knock came at an impressive strike rate of 173.33, with 15 fours and a six. Her aggressive play allowed partner Nat Sciver-Brunt to settle into her innings and build a solid foundation for the team.
With this knock, Wyatt-Hodge surpassed 3000 T20I runs, bringing her career tally to 3068 runs in 166 matches, at an average of 23.24 and a strike rate of 128.58. Her record includes two centuries and 17 fifties, placing her at the top of England’s T20I run-scorer list. Nat Sciver-Brunt, the second-highest scorer for England, has accumulated 2746 runs in 128 matches.

In response, South Africa’s chase faltered early, unable to match England’s power-hitting. The run chase was effectively stifled by leg-spinner Sarah Glenn, who spun a web of wickets, finishing with outstanding figures of 4/20 in her four overs. Glenn’s brilliant performance earned her the Player of the Match (POTM) award.
England secured a 36-run victory, taking a 2-0 lead in the three-match series and putting them in a commanding position to seal the series in the final T20I.
