Florida Man Shot Dead Over Loud Music Dispute on Thanksgiving Day

A tragic incident unfolded on Thanksgiving Day in Florida, where a 72-year-old man, Hurleyeon McLean, was fatally shot by his neighbor following a dispute over loud music. The shooting took place around 3:30 pm at the Somerset Drive apartments in a gated community in Broward County.

According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, McLean had gone downstairs to speak with his neighbor after the neighbor complained about the volume of his music. However, an altercation ensued, and the neighbor, whose identity has not been revealed, shot McLean.

McLean’s wife, Rose McLean, recalled the moment in an interview with NBC South Florida. She said, “He was playing his music, and the guy said it was too loud. So my husband went down to him.” Tragically, Rose heard a single gunshot moments later. “I heard the gunshot, ‘boom,’ and I just ran to the door. I saw my husband lying face down in the blood.”

Rose McLean also described the chilling encounter with the suspect, who stood by the door with a gun in hand and reportedly threatened her. “He wasn’t sorry. He was just standing there, looking at me with his gun in his hand,” she said. “I went up to him and asked, ‘Why did you shoot my husband? Why?’ And he said to me, ‘If I didn’t shut my mouth, he would shoot me too.’”

Hurleyeon McLean, a private bus driver and father of two sons, was well-known in his community. His pastor, Tracy McCloud, led a prayer circle with family and friends outside the apartment complex while awaiting updates from law enforcement.
