Initially set for December 14 in Houston, the bout was postponed, though no specific reason for the delay has been provided. This rescheduling adds more anticipation to what promises to be an exciting matchup.

Davis (30-0, 28 KOs), a Baltimore native, is currently ranked as ESPN’s No. 8 pound-for-pound boxer and No. 1 in the lightweight division. He is coming off a dominant eighth-round knockout victory over Frank Martin in June. This win marked Davis’ return to the ring after serving a 44-day jail sentence last summer for violating house arrest terms related to a 2020 hit-and-run incident.

Meanwhile, Roach (25-1-1, 10 KOs) will be stepping up from the 130-pound division, where he holds the WBA title and is ranked No. 5 by ESPN. The 29-year-old from Washington, D.C. recently won the title with a split-decision victory over Hector Luis Garcia in November 2023, and he retained the belt with an eighth-round TKO of Feargal McCrory in June. Against Davis, Roach will enter as a significant underdog but is looking to prove himself on the big stage.

This bout is expected to be a thrilling contest, with Davis aiming to continue his undefeated streak and solidify his position as one of the top fighters in the world.
