Gita Gopinath Shines in Peach Saree at White House Diwali Celebration Hosted by President Biden

Gita Gopinath, the First Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), honored her Indian roots by attending the Diwali celebration hosted at the White House by President Joe Biden. She graced the event in a stunning handloom saree, opting for a solid peach color with a golden border that beautifully showcased her heritage.

Pairing her saree with a simple matching blouse, Gopinath kept her accessories elegant yet understated. She adorned herself with an open choker necklace featuring floral designs, along with matching earrings, allowing the statement pieces to complement her look rather than overwhelm it. Her traditional ensemble was perfectly accentuated by her side-parted open hair, cold eyes, fresh dewy makeup, and nude lips. Gopinath chose to keep it simple by skipping the bindi, creating a refined appearance that served as a tribute to her Indian heritage.

Sharing her experience at the Diwali celebration on social media, Gopinath expressed her gratitude, stating, “Thank you @POTUS for the warm celebration of Diwali at the @WhiteHouse – a celebration of light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance. Wishing everyone a joyous Diwali!”

The celebration witnessed participation from over 600 distinguished Indian Americans, including Congressman Shri Thanedar and U.S. Surgeon General Vice Admiral Vivek H. Murthy. During his address, President Biden remarked, “As President, it is my honor to host the largest Diwali reception in the White House’s history. For me, this is significant. South Asian Americans have been prominent members of my staff as Senators, Vice Presidents, and Presidents.”

The White House Diwali celebration not only highlighted the cultural significance of the festival but also emphasized the unity and diversity within the American community, marking a memorable occasion for all attendees.
