Gujarat ATS Arrests Contract Employee for Sharing Sensitive Coast Guard Information with Pakistani Agents

The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested a contractual worker, Deepesh Gohil, for allegedly sharing sensitive details about the movement of Indian Coast Guard (ICG) ships with Pakistani spies. Deepesh, a resident of Okha in Gujarat, was reportedly paid Rs 200 per day for providing information about the Coast Guard vessels stationed at the Okha port.

The arrest comes after an investigation revealed that Deepesh had been in contact with a Pakistani agent posing as a person named ‘Sahima’ on Facebook. The agent continued to communicate with Deepesh through WhatsApp, asking for specific details about the Coast Guard boats. The exact identity of the Pakistani agent remains unclear, but it is believed that they may have connections to the Pakistan Navy or the ISI.

According to ATS officials, Deepesh received a total of Rs 42,000 for sharing information. He used a friend’s bank account to receive the money, which he later withdrew in cash, claiming it was for welding work. The ATS also revealed that Deepesh had regular access to the Coast Guard ships at Okha port, which facilitated the sharing of crucial operational details.

This arrest follows a similar incident in which Pankaj Kotia, from Porbandar, was apprehended by Gujarat ATS last month for allegedly passing on information about Coast Guard ships to Pakistani agents. The ATS continues to investigate the growing threat of espionage targeting India’s defense assets.
