Hardik Pandya Fiery 47 Powers Baroda to Fourth Straight Win in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy
Hardik Pandya is on a roll in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, delivering explosive performances that have led Baroda to a series of victories. In his recent outing against Tripura, the Indian all-rounder smashed a blistering 47 runs off just 23 balls, taking his tournament tally to 231 runs in four matches.
Pandya fiery cameo was a highlight in Baroda successful chase of 110 runs. Coming in at No. 4, he went on a rampage against Tripura’s left-arm spinner Parvez Sultan, plundering 28 runs off a single over. Pandya started the over with a six over long-on, followed by another maximum on the next ball. He continued to punish Sultan, hitting two more sixes—one over deep mid-wicket and the other over long-off—and concluded the over with a four to third man. It was a breathtaking display of power-hitting, with Hardik showing his full range of aggressive strokes.
This 28-run over came just after a 29-run over that Hardik had earlier hit against Tamil Nadu. His performance against Tripura helped Baroda reach their target in only 11.2 overs, securing their fourth consecutive win in the tournament. His knock included five sixes and three fours, and despite getting out shortly after, his contribution had already sealed the game.
With this win, Baroda leads the Group B points table with 16 points from four matches. Saurashtra follows in second place with 12 points, while Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Uttarakhand have 8 points each. Karnataka has 4 points, and Tripura and Sikkim are yet to open their account in the group. Pandya explosive batting continues to be a key factor in Baroda’s dominant run in the competition.
