Hemant Soren Cabinet Expansion: Eyes on New Ministers as Jharkhand Gears Up for Assembly Session
Ranchi: After taking the oath as Chief Minister of Jharkhand on November 28, Hemant Soren has hinted at an imminent cabinet expansion, promising to strengthen governance in the state. Speaking about this, Soren assured that the cabinet expansion will take place within the next couple of days. The move is expected to set the stage for the assembly session beginning December 9.
Former Jharkhand Congress President Rajesh Thakur confirmed the development, stating, “Hemant Soren has taken the oath as CM, and the cabinet expansion is the next step. It could happen before the assembly session or during it, depending on the Chief Minister’s decision.”
A Government Backed by a Strong Majority
Hemant Soren’s government has been formed with an overwhelming majority in the Jharkhand Assembly. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), in alliance with Congress, RJD, and CPI(ML), has achieved a resounding victory in the recent elections, securing 56 out of 81 seats. The JMM alone claimed 34 seats, while Congress won 16, RJD 4, and CPI(ML) 2.
Rajesh Thakur emphasized the importance of thorough deliberation in selecting cabinet members. “Every big decision requires careful thought. Those chosen will strengthen governance and take the oath of office soon,” he said.
Assembly Session Scheduled from December 9-12
Chief Minister Hemant Soren has called for a session of the Jharkhand Assembly from December 9 to 12, during which critical decisions are expected to be made. Protem Speaker Prof. Stephen Marandi has been appointed to administer the oath to the newly elected MLAs.
The India Alliance’s landslide victory and Hemant Soren’s leadership have paved the way for a promising new chapter in Jharkhand’s governance. All eyes are now on the cabinet expansion, which is set to shape the future of the state’s administration.
