India Responds to US Allegations Against Adani Group, Says No Request for Summons Received

India Ministry of External Affairs has addressed the recent bribery allegations against the Adani Group made by the US Justice Department. Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal clarified that no official request has been received from the United States regarding the summons of Adani Group executives in connection with the bribery case.

In a weekly press briefing, Jaiswal explained that the allegations involving top Adani Group executives are a matter between the private firm and individuals, as well as the US Justice Department. He emphasized that the Indian government is not directly involved in the legal proceedings or investigations related to these allegations.

Legal Process and International Cooperation

Jaiswal further outlined the process involved when foreign governments issue summons or arrest warrants for Indian citizens. Such actions are governed by Mutual Legal Assistance Treaties (MLATs) between countries, and any request for legal action is considered on a case-by-case basis. As of now, the Indian government has not received any such request from the United States.

Adani Group Response

The Adani Group has strongly denied the bribery allegations leveled by the US Securities and Exchange Commission, calling them unfounded. The company maintains that it has complied with all regulatory requirements and rejects the accusations made by US authorities.

This statement comes amid growing scrutiny over the Adani Group’s business practices, with the company continuing to face legal challenges and public debate over its operations. However, the Indian government remains confident that due legal processes will guide the resolution of the matter.
