Indian Secular Front Protests Outside Bangladesh Deputy High Commission Over Atrocities Against Hindus
Kolkata: The Indian Secular Front (ISF), led by MLA Naushad Siddiqui, staged a protest outside the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata on Friday, demanding immediate action to address the escalating atrocities against minority Hindus in Bangladesh. The protestors also submitted a memorandum to the authorities, urging the interim government in Bangladesh to take swift measures to protect the rights and safety of religious minorities.
An ISF worker stated that recent media reports about the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh had prompted the protest. “We are deeply concerned about the ongoing atrocities and the systematic targeting of minorities. We demand immediate intervention from the Bangladeshi authorities,” the worker said.
The protesters were initially stopped by the police at the gate of the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission. However, four ISF leaders were later allowed inside to hand over the memorandum, while others continued their demonstration outside the premises.
Naushad Siddiqui, the MLA from Bhangar, has gained significant support in the minority-dominated areas of the state in recent years. His party, ISF, has been vocal about the plight of religious minorities in Bangladesh, and this protest is a continuation of their efforts to raise awareness and demand justice.
The situation in Bangladesh remains tense, with growing concerns over the safety of Hindus and other minority groups in the country. The ISF’s demonstration has added to the calls for greater diplomatic pressure on Bangladesh to ensure the protection of its religious minorities.
