IPL 2025 Auction Sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Dream Start Crashes in U-19 Asia Cup Debut

The IPL 2025 mega auction saw massive bids, with players like Rishabh Pant and Vaibhav Suryavanshi making headlines for their high price tags. Pant, who was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for a whopping Rs 27 crore, grabbed attention on the first day, but it was Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s name that made waves on the second day. Rajasthan Royals (RR) secured the 13-year-old prodigy for Rs 1 crore 10 lakh, almost four times his base price of Rs 30 lakh.

At just 13, Vaibhav became the youngest player ever to be bought at the IPL auction, earning significant media buzz and raising expectations among fans and his new team. However, his dream IPL journey hit a major setback in his first international appearance.

In the opening match of the ACC Men’s Under-19 Asia Cup against Pakistan, Vaibhav, alongside Ayush Mhatre, opened the Indian innings in response to Pakistan’s total of 281. Unfortunately, both Indian openers failed to make an impact. Ayush Mhatre scored just 20 runs before being dismissed, and Vaibhav followed soon after, departing for just 1 run off 9 balls, bowled out by Ali Raza.

This early failure dampened the high expectations surrounding Vaibhav’s IPL fortune, as he failed to make a mark in his first match after becoming an IPL millionaire. The young talent will now be hoping to bounce back in future opportunities and showcase his potential in both domestic and international cricket.
