Kolkata Doctor Refuses Treatment to Bangladeshi Patients in Protest Against Anti-India Incidents

Kolkata: In a strong stance against the rising atrocities against Hindus and vandalism of temples in Bangladesh, renowned gynecologist Dr. Indranil Saha has announced that he will no longer treat Bangladeshi patients. The decision comes after reports of anti-India sentiments being expressed by several advisors of the caretaker government in Bangladesh and the disrespect shown to the Indian national flag in the country.

Dr. Saha shared his decision on social media, urging fellow doctors in Kolkata to take similar actions until relations between India and Bangladesh are normalized. In his post, he included a picture of the Indian flag displayed at the entrance of BUT University in Dhaka, which he claimed was insulted. “I am deeply saddened by this incident. I am currently stopping treatment for Bangladeshi patients in my chamber. Country first, earning later. I hope other doctors will join me in this decision until relations improve,” he wrote.

His announcement is a response to a series of troubling incidents in Bangladesh, including attacks on Hindu communities and the desecration of religious sites. Dr. Saha’s move has sparked considerable attention, especially as Kolkata is a major medical hub for many Bangladeshis seeking treatment for complex illnesses. Every year, thousands of patients from Bangladesh travel to Kolkata for medical care, and the interruption of this service could have serious health consequences.

While some have criticized the decision, many others have expressed support for Dr. Saha, commending his courage in standing up against the rising anti-India and anti-Hindu sentiments in Bangladesh. The situation remains tense, and many are hopeful that diplomatic efforts will help restore normalcy and safety for all communities in the region.
