Lamine Yamal Set to Return for Barcelona After Injury Recovery
Barcelona young star, Lamine Yamal, is ready to make his return to the pitch after recovering from an injury to his right ankle, coach Hansi Flick confirmed on Friday. Yamal, who was sidelined for three weeks, is set to feature in Barcelona’s upcoming match against Las Palmas on Saturday, with the possibility of starting or coming on as a substitute.
“He back and he is ready to play,” Flick stated. “We haven’t decided yet if he will start, but I think he can and will play.”
The 17-year-old forward suffered the injury during Barcelona 5-2 Champions League victory over Red Star Belgrade. His absence saw Barcelona struggle, losing 1-0 to Real Sociedad and drawing 2-2 at Celta Vigo in La Liga, although they managed to secure a 3-0 win against Brest in the Champions League.
Yamal return is a boost for the Catalan club, as he has been in exceptional form, leading the Spanish league with seven assists and scoring five goals for Barcelona. His contributions were also crucial in helping Spain win the 2024 European Championship.
Currently leading La Liga, Barcelona holds a four-point advantage over second-placed Real Madrid, although their rivals have one game in hand. Yamal return could be pivotal in maintaining their lead as the season progresses.
