LeBron James is proving once again that age is just a number. In his 22nd season in the NBA, the 39-year-old superstar shows no signs of slowing down, adding another milestone to his legendary career. James was recently named the NBA Western Conference Player of the Month for February, further extending his league record to 41 monthly awards—three of which have come with the Los Angeles Lakers.
With this latest achievement, James surpasses Hall of Famer Karl Malone as the oldest player to win the award. Malone previously held the record at 37 years old, earning the honor with the Utah Jazz back in November 2000.
Lakers Thriving After Blockbuster Doncic Trade
The Lakers have been on an absolute tear since acquiring Luka Dončić from the Dallas Mavericks in a stunning trade for Anthony Davis last month. Dončić, despite missing time earlier in the season due to a calf strain, has quickly found his rhythm alongside James.
The chemistry between the two was on full display in Tuesday night’s 136-115 victory, as they combined for 64 points and 21 assists, overwhelming their opponents.
“He is getting more and more comfortable—not only with the team, not only with the sets, but with everything. The fans, LA,” James said about Dončić. “Every day is going to get better for him health-wise because he is getting better with his calf. It’s good for our team.”
Dončić had been sidelined for nearly six weeks following a left calf strain suffered on Christmas Day, but he has wasted no time in making a major impact since his return.
Lakers’ Resurgence: Seven Wins in a Row
Tuesday’s win marked the Lakers’ seventh straight victory, catapulting them to second place in the highly competitive Western Conference. With James leading the way on both ends of the floor, Los Angeles is quickly emerging as a serious championship contender.
“We’re just trying to continue to mesh well offensively and defensively and hold each other accountable,” James said. “I think it’s working out for us so far.”
As the Lakers continue their surge, James remains at the heart of their success, proving yet again why he is one of the greatest players the game has ever seen.
