Maharashtra Assembly Elections: Tough fight between Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi, initial trends create stir

New Delhi: Counting of votes for Maharashtra Assembly elections is underway and early trends show Mahayuti alliance (BJP, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar’s NCP) and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) (Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) ) and Sharad Pawar’s NCP) is seeing a tough fight.

Voting in Maharashtra’s 288 constituencies was 66.05%, marking higher public participation than the 2019 elections. Both the alliances are seeing this as their support and remain optimistic about the results.

Key contests, such as Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis’ contest in Nagpur South West and challenge by Shiv Sena (UBT)’s Shraddha Jadhav in Wadala, have all eyes on these key constituencies. As the counting progresses, Mahayuti alliance is getting lead on many seats and it may get more than 220 seats.

  • Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP):
    • Akkalkuwa, Chopra, Pachora, Jalna, Buldhana, Ramtek, Bhandara, etc.
  • Shiv Sena:
    • Pachapkhadi, Bhandup West, Andheri East, Kurla, etc.
  • NCP (Sharad Pawar):
    • Amalner, Sindhkhed Raja, Arjuni Morgaon, etc.
  • Congress:
    • Navapur, Akola, Yavatmal, Malad West, etc.
  • Samajwadi Party:
    • Bhiwandi East, Manthakurd Shivaji Nagar.
  • AIMIM:
    • Malegaon (Central).

As the results are coming in, these elections are indicating a significant change in the political scenario of Maharashtra.
