Siddarth Kaul Announces Retirement from All Forms of Cricket
Indian cricketer Siddarth Kaul, known for his contributions to the national team and the IPL, announced his decision to retire from all forms of cricket on Thursday. The 34-year-old pacer made the announcement via social media, reflecting on his journey and expressing gratitude for the support he received throughout his career.
Kaul represented India in six international matches, making his T20I debut in 2018 against Ireland under Virat Kohli’s captaincy. He also played three ODIs, but his international career was hampered by injuries. Kaul last played for India in 2019 against Australia.
In the IPL, Kaul enjoyed a successful career, taking 58 wickets in 55 innings across stints with four different teams—Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Daredevils, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Despite playing for Punjab in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy and featuring for Northamptonshire in county cricket, Kaul was not selected in the recent IPL 2024 mega auction, prompting his decision to retire from all forms of cricket in India.
In his emotional farewell message, Kaul expressed gratitude for the opportunities he received and the memories created along the way. “The time has now come to call time on my career in India,” he wrote. “Words cannot express my gratitude for the love and support I have received through all the highs and lows of my career.”
Kaul thanked his family, teammates, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for helping him fulfill his dream of representing India. “I want to thank God for the path that has been made for me; the fans for the endless support; my parents and family for the sacrifices and confidence you have given me, especially during the injuries and lows.”
As Kaul transitions to the next chapter of his life, he looks back on his cricketing journey with fond memories, grateful for the opportunities and the love he received throughout his career.
