Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi’s ‘Amaran’ to Stream on Netflix Starting December 5

The Tamil film Amaran, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, is all set to make its OTT debut on December 5. After a successful five-week run in theaters, the film will be available for streaming on Netflix, much earlier than initially expected. While reports had suggested a release date of December 11, sources confirm the film will start streaming on December 5, as reported by the Hindustan Times.

Amaran is based on the inspiring true story of Major Mukund Varadarajan, an officer in the Indian Army’s Rajput Regiment who was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra for his brave counterterrorism operations in Jammu and Kashmir. The movie is adapted from a chapter about Major Mukund in the book India’s Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh. It beautifully portrays Major Mukund’s courageous journey alongside his wife, Indu Rebecca Varghese.

Sivakarthikeyan plays the role of Major Mukund, while Sai Pallavi portrays his wife, Indu. The film also features Bhuvan Arora, Rahul Bose, Shreekumar, and Geetha Kailasam in supporting roles. Directed by Rajkumar Periaswamy and produced by Kamal Haasan, Amaran has received widespread praise for its gripping narrative and stellar performances.

The film was released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada, making it accessible to a wide audience. It has earned over ₹320 crore at the box office and continues to perform well in theaters. On its opening day, Amaran garnered over ₹35 crore worldwide, marking the fourth-highest first-day gross for a Tamil film in 2024. It also set a new record for Sivakarthikeyan, becoming his highest-grossing opening film to date.
