Success of pink ball, know why orange or yellow ball is not used
The history of the pink ball is an important chapter in cricket. This ball was invented by the Kookaburra Company of Australia, and was first introduced for use in Test cricket. Although initially the color of the pink ball would fade quickly, over time improvements were made and it was made permanent.
Kookaburra experimented with different colored balls, such as orange and yellow, but ultimately found the pink ball to be the most suitable. Initially black thread was used for stitching the pink ball, and later green and white threads were also used. The pink ball with which India played its first Day-Night Test match had black thread stitching.
The pink ball was specifically chosen for Test cricket because it is more clearly visible at night. Apart from this, this ball also performs better in terms of swing and backspin, thereby providing different challenges to both the batsmen and bowlers.
