Teacher Fired After Accidentally Serving Dog Treats to Students at Mississippi School
A Mississippi teacher has lost their job after inadvertently serving dog treats to students during a class celebration, according to a report from WTVA, a local ABC affiliate.
The now-former employee of Calhoun City High School, whose identity has not been revealed by the Calhoun County School District, reportedly mistook dog treats for beef jerky while preparing snacks for the event.
At least eight students consumed the treats during a birthday celebration for several students on Wednesday, said Dr. Lisa Langford, the district superintendent. The situation was quickly addressed, with the school nurse promptly responding and contacting Poison Control for guidance. The district also informed the affected students’ parents about the incident.
One child was reportedly taken to a doctor due to a stomachache, though there have been no reports of serious health issues. The district praised the nurse’s swift action in handling the situation.
