Trying to catch the person who leaked Netflix’s leaked episodes from Discord
Earlier this year, Netflix suffered a massive leak, with full episodes of popular shows like Terminator Zero, Arkane, Squid Game, and Ranma 1/2 being leaked online ahead of their official release. Following the incident, Netflix released an official statement saying it was “proactively taking action” against the perpetrator of the leak.
Now it appears that Netflix has found some clues in this matter. According to reports, Netflix is taking help from Discord to trace the person who leaked unreleased footage of its blockbuster show. “Netflix is looking to Discord for help figuring out who exactly is leaking unreleased footage from some of its popular shows,” reports Polygon.
California court order
The court for the Northern District of California recently issued a subpoena to force Discord to share information that could help identify a Discord user who allegedly uploaded episodes of the popular Netflix show and Involved in leaking images. The subpoena specifically concerns an unreleased and copyrighted image from the second season of Squid Game, which was posted by a Discord user @jacejohns4n.
‘Big Netflix leak’
The leak occurred in August, stemming from a security breach at Luno, a post-production studio that works with major streaming platforms. A Netflix representative said at the time, “One of our post production partners has been compromised and footage from several of our titles has unfortunately been leaked online. “Our team is taking aggressive action to remove it.”
“We are aware of a recent security issue involving unauthorized access to confidential content,” it said in a statement published on Luno’s website. “Protecting the privacy of our customers and ensuring the security of their content is our top priority. “We are actively investigating this security breach and taking every possible step to identify the responsible parties.”
Apart from Netflix, Luno’s other customers also include Amazon Studios, BBC, Disney, HBO and DreamWorks.
