weather forecast snow storm: Violent North Atlantic Storm Set to Hit Ireland This Weekend Warn Experts

weather forecast snow storm, A violent North Atlantic storm is barreling toward Ireland, with weather experts warning it could bring severe conditions this weekend. The storm, named Storm Bert, is expected to unleash strong winds, heavy rain, and potential gales across the country.

Just days before Storm Bert arrival, Met Eireann issued a Status Yellow weather warning for ice and low temperatures on Tuesday night, lasting until 10 a.m. Wednesday. A second warning will take effect Wednesday night at 8 p.m. and last until Thursday morning, with hazardous road conditions expected due to icy surfaces and potential travel disruptions.

Meteorologists from Severe Weather Europe have described the incoming storm as one to watch, with deteriorating conditions forecast for Western Europe. Storm Bert will bring gales for many, possibly severe gales in the west and northwest, along with heavy rain, said meteorologist Nick Finnis. It could be one of those weekends to stay indoors.

Following weeks of mild weather, Storm Bert will mark a return to unsettled conditions. Met Eireann predicts rain, sleet, and snow, along with strong winds, as the storm moves across Ireland. However, it also hinted that milder temperatures may follow as the storm clears, pushing temperatures back into double figures.

The current short-term forecast shows a cold Wednesday with frost and icy stretches, especially in the morning. Rain will spread across the southern half of the country by Wednesday night, turning to sleet and snow at times. Thursday will remain cold, with further wintry showers in the north and west, and temperatures struggling to reach 4°C.

Experts advise staying cautious, especially on untreated roads and surfaces, as the storm makes its way through Ireland this weekend.
