Konaté, who has been a key figure in Liverpool’s defense this season alongside Virgil van Dijk, was forced to leave the pitch late in the match after a clash with Madrid forward Endrick. The French international appeared to hurt his knee during the incident, and while there is no official timeline for his recovery yet, Konaté shared his frustration about the injury.

In a post on Instagram, the 25-year-old defender expressed:
“So frustrating to pick up this injury right at the end of a great game on Wednesday night,” Konaté wrote. “Now we start the recovery process but one thing I promise is I will come back and be the best I can be once again. Thank you for the amazing support at Anfield. Inshallah we will keep going and I will support the team every step of the way.”

With Liverpool leading the Premier League by eight points, the timing of Konaté’s injury is a significant blow. However, they will be bolstered by the return of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is fit to start against Manchester City after recovering from a hamstring issue.

For now, Konaté’s absence leaves a void in the heart of the defense as Liverpool prepares for a crucial clash with Manchester City, who are currently struggling with form.
