Spanish Chef Arrested After Assault on German Tourist Over Food Complaint in Ibiza

In a shocking incident in Ibiza, a 37-year-old Spanish chef was arrested following an altercation with a 72-year-old German tourist who complained about the quality of his meal at a popular Mediterranean island restaurant. The incident, reported by Spain’s Guardia Civil, highlights the unexpected and serious repercussions of a food complaint.

According to a police statement released on Wednesday, the altercation began when the German tourist sent his food back to the kitchen, dissatisfied with its quality. The chef, infuriated by the complaint, reportedly approached the customer’s table, shouting and displaying aggression. In a sudden outburst, he allegedly pushed the tourist with such force that the elderly man fell, injuring his back and neck. The chef continued his tirade, breaking a plate on the floor and verbally assaulting the tourist, adding to the commotion in the crowded establishment.

Initially, the tourist sought medical attention at a local health center, where his injuries were considered minor. However, a few days later, the situation escalated when the man began experiencing severe breathing difficulties, resulting in his hospitalization for chest surgery. Medical examinations revealed two blood clots, a serious complication believed to be linked to the incident.

Following a police investigation, the chef was apprehended and charged with causing serious bodily harm. Neither the identities of the chef nor the tourist have been disclosed.

This incident underscores the need for professionalism in the hospitality industry, where customer complaints are typically handled with composure and respect.
