Trump stated, “What Biden really thinks of our supporters is clear: he called them trash. And it’s no surprise that my supporters are of a much higher quality than Crooked Joe or Lying Kamala.” He further emphasized, “If you don’t love Americans, you can’t lead America.”
In response to the backlash, Biden issued a clarification, asserting that his comment referred to the offensive rhetoric used by a speaker at the Trump rally. He expressed his view that the derogatory remarks do not represent the values of the nation. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre also defended Biden, reiterating that he does not view any group of Americans as “trash.”
As the controversy unfolded, Harris aimed to distance herself from Biden’s comments. In an interview, she stated, “I strongly disagree with any criticism of who people vote for.” Her intention to unite all Americans, regardless of political affiliation, was clear in her message.
