No Entry for Passengers with Large, Heavy Luggage
In a recent directive, Western Railway has banned carrying large and bulky items into trains, citing concerns over the high passenger count during the holiday season. These restrictions aim to create a more comfortable environment for all passengers, as overcrowding is a common issue during this time. Railway officials have been instructed to monitor entry points closely, ensuring compliance with these new rules and preventing passengers from boarding with excessive luggage.
Increased Surveillance at Entry Points
To maintain order and enforce these new regulations, railway authorities have deployed special inspection teams and ticket-checking staff at station entry points. In response to the anticipated crowd, platform ticket sales have also been limited to prevent unnecessary congestion, helping ensure a smoother, more organized travel experience for everyone.
What’s Not Allowed on Board?
Passengers are advised to avoid carrying items that occupy significant space. For those planning long journeys for Chhath Puja or other festivities, essential but bulky items like buckets, large boxes, and drums are prohibited. Any oversized items, such as scooters or bicycles, will require separate bookings and additional fees.
With these new rules, Indian Railways aims to make travel during peak season more manageable and pleasant for everyone, streamlining the boarding process while minimizing disruptions and delays.
