Saoirse Ronan Shares Rare Insights into Her Marriage with Jack Lowden and Their Creative Collaboration

Saoirse Ronan has opened up about her recent marriage to actor Jack Lowden, revealing rare details about their relationship and professional collaboration. The Hollywood couple, who tied the knot this past July after dating for six years, are known for keeping their personal lives private, focusing instead on their craft.

In a candid conversation on The Ryan Tubridy Show aired on Virgin Radio UK, Ronan shared, “We’ve been together for a long time, and we’ve had a pretty busy year with work.” The two met while filming Mary Queen of Scots, and their connection has deepened over the years, leading to their recent wedding in a private ceremony in Edinburgh.

Ronan noted that their ability to balance personal time with professional commitments has strengthened their bond. Before their marriage, they collaborated on the film Going Forward, an adaptation of Amy Liptrot’s memoir, which has generated early Oscar buzz for Ronan’s performance. “It’s a film we’ve produced together, and it feels like our baby. We’re investing a lot of time and energy into it, and we’re incredibly proud of the reception it’s received,” she explained.

The film is still showing in theaters, and Ronan encouraged audiences to see it, saying, “I would really urge anyone to take the time to see it in cinemas. And yes, we’re doing very well—he’s currently doing the laundry!”

On working together, Ronan mentioned to USA Today, “Jack is much calmer than I am. He’s my voice of reason. But as a couple, we’ve spent our whole lives on film sets, so we appreciate what we’re asking actors to do.”

Looking to the future, the 30-year-old Ronan hopes to embark on more collaborative projects with Lowden, potentially in theater—a venture that initially made the 34-year-old hesitant. “Jack didn’t want to do it for a long time, but I’ve convinced him it’s a good idea,” she said. “I’d love to do something on stage together.”

Lowden, who affectionately refers to Ronan as “Saoirse,” expressed his admiration for her talent and their joint projects. He recalled, “During the lockdown, I read The Outrun and turned to Saoirse and said, ‘You need to play this role.’ Being producers together, having her in that role was just the most incredible experience—especially seeing her perform it.”

He added, “Creating an independent film is crazy fun and terrifying at the same time. We’d love to make more things together, but right now, we’re a bit behind due to acting commitments getting in the way.”

When asked about the challenges of maintaining a relationship with a fellow actor, Lowden replied, “No, being with another actor is wonderful because we understand each other. We’re quite strange, and it makes complete sense. I think that’s why so many artists end up with fellow creatives.”

He reflected on the difficulty of privacy in the industry, stating, “I don’t know if it’s hard to maintain privacy. I feel lucky to have been able to build my career at a slower pace, allowing me to grow and make mistakes along the way. I can’t imagine what it would be like to be 18 or 19 in a big show with everyone wanting to know everything about you.”
