Wawa Issues Recall for 60,000 Glass Tumblers Due to Metal Straw Hazard

New York — In a significant safety recall, Wawa has announced the withdrawal of approximately 60,000 branded glass tumblers due to a risk of injury from metal straws. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a notice on Thursday highlighting that metal debris inside the glasses could potentially cut users’ mouths and fingers. So far, four injuries have been reported related to this issue.

The CPSC is urging consumers to stop using the metal straws immediately and to contact Hello Branding Solutions, the distributor of the tumblers based in Illinois, for silicone replacements. Customers wishing to return the tumblers can receive a $15 refund in the form of a gift card.

The notice specifies that affected consumers should not attempt to return the glasses to Wawa stores. Detailed instructions on how to participate in the recall can be found on Hello’s website.

The recalled tumblers were sold exclusively at Wawa locations in August across several states, including Alabama, Washington D.C., Delaware, Florida, North Carolina, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Maryland. The 24-ounce tumblers were available in four distinct styles.

In a statement, the Pennsylvania-based Wawa confirmed that the recalled tumblers have not been available in its stores since mid-August, noting that a total of 5,433 units were sold. The company is committed to consumer safety and encourages anyone with these tumblers to take immediate action to ensure their well-being.
